Shell-Neck, Slim and Grim

For this story, I don't think I took away the same thoughts that others would get from it. How other people would see it as the turtles fault for not obeying the birds and letting go of the stick, which lead him to his death by resulting in landing on the stick. I think it was the birds fault for letting go first. Obviously, they were not good friends to the turtle for letting him fall to his death by talking to each other. If it weren't for the birds who were holding on to the poor turtle he would still be alive. I don't believe that they kept their part of the agreement.

SHAKESPEARE PREPARED US ALL

I think Shakespeare is a very relevant subject to be learned in school because he has made up most of the common words we use today. Shakespeare is a great tool to practice on analyzing sonnets, and his poem because it can be a challenge for most people. To be honest, Shakespeare is not my favorite things to study or spend a lot of time on, but i do know it is something we should all be familiar with. i feel that Shakespeare is relevant to have in school because it also shares some historical content. This would be considered cultural literacy in my thoughts. Shakespeare is something we should all have learned one time or another. Just as if we are learning Shakespeare in our English classes. I feel it is relevant to consistently learn about Shakespeare, whereas in 9th grade we read one of his plays, "A Mid Summer's Night Dream." Learning this type of language was hard for me at first, but having it more involved in our vocabulary by reading it more has made it a lot easier. One of my favorite plays from Shakespeare is, "Romeo and Juliette." this play is so well know all over the world and has made and impact not only in Shakespearean time, but ours as well. Modern movies have recreated this play so many times and even just the general idea of his play has been the plot of these new movies such as a lot of Romantic movies being made. Because Shakespeare has lived on in our lives for so many years even after his own death, we should be learning about him in school. While reading one of his other plays "Macbeth" it was sort of difficult for me to read only because I felt  Shakespeare added to many words when someone would say something. I know that is just how the language was back then, especially with Shakespeare, but I had a difficult time translating it. How would you feel if today everyone spoke like they did in Shakespeare's time? Phone bills would probably double for the amount of words in a single text message! I guess this is just a culture we would have been use to if we  lived in those times, but what if Shakespeare was born in our times and all of his plays were written how we talk today? I think it would look a lot like how my pictures shows him texting. I think the language from then to now has gotten dumber, but easier only because today's society has gotten dumber and lazy.

VIOLATION OF SPACE OR FRIENDLY GREETING

Growing up in Hawaii, I've always been use to it being very family oriented. I call my friends parents aunty and uncle. Unlike people from the mainland where it would be very odd for someone to be called something you would normally call a relative. Along with this family oriented environmental is a normal to kiss others on their cheek as you greet them. It shows a meaning of respect and friendliness  to one another and by living here all my life I have become accustomed to it. The thing is I wouldn't really kiss my family on the cheek when we meet because they are not from Hawaii and it isn't a normal thing they do. What I have been accustomed to is kissing others on the cheek when you meet,a although it isn't a normal thing for me to do, by being the instigator to kiss someone on the cheek. i usually wait for someone else to also do it, unless they don't then I would just give them a hug.

2 Here in Hawaii it is normal to greet each other with a kiss on the cheek. Coming from a family where both my parents are from the mainland they are also adjusted to this custom and wouldn't normally instigate this action either. For us waiting to kiss someone on the cheek would be like waiting for someone to offer you food while you are at their house. See I would never start helping myself to someone else's food unless I am offered it. If I were the one to instigate this action, of kissing on the cheek, with someone who also wasn't accustomed to it, it would be quite awkward. Same as if I were to help myself to someone else s food. I feel it is a very rude thing to do and that is just how i was raised.

3 Kissing someone on the cheek, however, is not like waiting to be offered food at all if you were on the mainland, it would like going swimming in you're clothes. For someone people in our culture it is a common thing to do and others don't think anything of it, but on the mainland I'm sure people would think you were crazy. Although wearing clothes while swimming to me isn't a big deal i would rather wear a bathing suit, than clothes. It's way different in Hawaii compared to the mainland because of its laid back, "Aloha" spirit. Which on the mainland things are different if you are not accustomed to it.

4 If these cultures were to clash it would probably end up with a lot of awkwardness. This is important for people to know who came from a culture of maybe not such a family oriented background. With everyone over here kissing each other they would probably feel very uncomfortable. I know that the Italian culture is used to kissing each other on both cheeks where normally we only kiss one. Also, the men don't usually partake in this action with other me. Women will with other women, men will with other women, but you wouldn't see another guy kissing each others cheek. Although, in the Italian culture it would be very common.

It is also important to understand others culture so that people don't get offended . If someones culture is to be comfortable with being touchy towards one another when talking to someones and that persons culture isn't used to being so touchy than the two cultures would clash. Maybe if someone is used to being very loud and outgoing, and interacted with someone whose cultures is used to being soft spoken. Those people might not get along as well as some with the same culture. It is very good to go to a school with such a mix of cultures that way we can learn a little bit about each one and can be respectful enough to communicate with one another.

5 We should always take in consideration of others cultural differences because living in such a population of mixed ethnicity's it would be very easy to offend someone. We are lucky to live in a world with such cultures and different beliefs. No one has any right to tell someone their beliefs are better than someone else's. I believe that by accepting other peoples cultures reflects on who they are also as an individual. Without expressing individuality we wouldn't have a such a great mix of cultures, like we do today.

I believe that if we did not live in a place where everyone was respected for having their own opinions this world wouldn't be filled with so much conflict. We'd be able to more freely express ourselves through the media and not be so concerned about being judged by someone with different views.

"Catcher In The Rye" movie characters

I disagree with J.D. Salinger that Catcher should not be made into a movie or play. I believe that with the right characters to play the parts of these people, it would be a very entertaining movie. As I have been reading this movie it was very easy for me to picture different scenes in my head. I can really imagine Holden in my head as a tall kid, not to buff, but also not to scrawny. I believe that Salinger has written this book so well that I am able to follow along by playing his words in my mind. Although, I can understand why he wouldnt want to make his book into a movie because some books that are made into movies are not portrayed well enough and it ruins the entire book. I feel that theonly way to make this book into a movie would be to follow it as if it was a script and not leave out any scenes to the book. Which all fall together in the end perfectly. If someone was to find real life people that would be able to hold up the title of each character without any flaws than it would be a pretty good movie.  I feel that I would want to see this book as a movie because I wish to be able to see holden as maybe other people do. The only down fall to this of making catcher into a movie is that they would need to figure out how to have Holdens commentary in there. I believe what makes the book is that it comes from Holdens point of view. Through a movie that might be a little bit harder to understand.

Who I would want to direct this movie would be  Robert Zemeckis, director of the movie "Forrest Gump." Zemeckis would be a great director for this movie because during thhis famous movie he uses a very clever way to commentate on the movie. While Forrest is talking to people on the street he tells them about his story, which is his past and he is still telling the story in his point of view.

I think Sally Hayes could be played as Hayden Panettiere because when I picture Sally I imagine a pretty and blonde girl. She is one of my favorite actress and Sally Hayes reminds me sort of one of the characters that Hayden played in the movie "Bring It On."

I think that Madison Pettis would be a great actress for Pheobe because Pheobe is a young girl and when Madison was younger she starred in "Game Plan" and that character would be great as Pheobe.Madison plays a strong willed little girl, who doesnt take no for an answer. I feel she is also a very smart girl just like how Holden describes Pheobe to be.

I think that Vannessa Hudgens would be a good person to play even though we never met Jane Gallagher through Holden, how he describes her I pictured a pretty looking dark haired girl. Her character from "Beastly" would best portray Jane.

Lastly, I think the best character for Holden would be Josh Hutcherson. I've always liked Josh as a actor in his previous movies and I think he was awesome in "the Hunger Games". I think he would play a great Holden because he reminds me of a tough kid, who is able to stand up for himself.

My Phony Halloween

If you really want to hear about my Halloween I am going to tell you, if you don't, well I am going to tell you anyways. First of all I went to school in the most phoniest outfit you could imagine. It really was. I wore a pair of cheetah print shorts and ears. It was pretty phony if you ask me. What made things worse was when I got to school all the other phony people were the same thing as me! You can just imagine them thinking that they had the best outfit until they came to school and looked like everyone else. Everyone went crazy for it though, so I didn't mind much. I couldn't wait to get out of school and get away from all these phony people. I couldn't stand them, I really couldn't. After school i waited for my friends practice to be over. She played soccer. I didn't mind waiting because i actually liked soccer, I really did. I don't quite understand why anyone would want to waste their time running after a ball, but I didn't mind watching it. Although, it was cold as hell and that was the only thing i minded about waiting. When it came time to go trick or treating we met up with some of our friends in Ka'a'awa. It was a pretty dead place to be on Halloween. Annoying little kids everywhere. Its not that I don't like kids or anything. I have 3 kid siblings, I really do. Its just when their not your own siblings they can be pretty annoying as hell. One house that we stopped at though, I probably wont ever forget about. It was pretty gross. This old guy was hitting on my friend. He was the most corniest guy ever. He kept asking for her number saying that he wanted  a bag like hers. He wanted her to make him a bag. how corny is that? I don't understand why some people try to hit on such young people when you're probably 50 years old! It was pretty gross if you ask me! If you want to know the truth, I actually got a lot of candy. So this night didn't end out so bad, after all if you ask me.

A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns

Love Among the Ruins by Sir Edward Burne-Jones
I chose he poem "A Red, Red Rose" by Robert Burns because I think it is a really sweet and romantic. I love how Burns really sounds in love with his partner. He really expresses how much he loves this woman. Although, sometimes it is hard to put your feelings in to words i think her portrayed it really well. I also chose this poem because it really caught my attention when I was reading through all of the other poems. I feel that I would be able to recite this poem well because I enjoy it so much. I like how Burns makes his poem almost as a letter. I believe that he could read this to her and the women would be so happy.
I think this poem means that Burns is telling her, he will never stop loving her. He will love her til infinity and he wont stop loving her until the seas dry out, which we all know will never happen. You can tell that Burns and this woman must have a lot of history together for him to love her so much. Maybe they are and with a family or maybe he is trying to win her over by showing her his love for her.
I have a couple different favorite lines in this poem, "And i will luve thee still my dear, till a' the seas gang dry." I am guessing he is Irish which is why some of his words seem shortened, such as a' means "all". He means in this line that he will never stop loving her. In this line "And i will come again, my luve, though it were ten thounsands mile." Burns says that even if they are miles away he will still love her.
I can relate to this poem because it sounds like it could have came out from on of the movies I watch. Like the Titanic! That is one of my all time favorite movies and this poem is like the love between Rose and Jack. They promised each other that they would always love one another and that movie really helped show there love that they had.
I think that one way I can make my poem easy to remember for other people would be by my tone. If I were to pretend  I was Burns and saying it to someone I really loved I think others could relate too. Or I could even say it how I would want someone to say it to me.
I chose this painting to describe my poem because when I see it I think of the man looking at the woman like as if he would never let her go. They are together and holding on to each other and look like they are in love.

Reality TV is beneficial

Married to Jonas Reality T.V is beneficial in lots of ways not only is it a way of entertainment. Which brings some kind of excitement into the  average persons life. Just think of all the money that these shows are making and it definitely supplies more jobs for people. Who cares if people have become overly addicted to these crazy shows? I feel that reality T.V. has become one big world wide update of news, and drama. It is like Facebook and keeps you informed of people's live s whop you have never even met before! I don't think that this is hurting anyone either. No one is being forced to watch shows about other peoples lives they just do! These reality shows also have become very beneficial to the people they are starring. it helps them become more popular to the public. Also. for those people at home who are constantly watching these shows, they begin to start a sort of relationship with the people they watch shows about. Possibly a friend in their minds because they might be able to relate to their problems. If anything reality shows are nothing other than a comfort zone for people who have lonely lives. This video clip is of a new reality show called "Married to Jonas". Starring Kevin Jonas from the Jonas Brothers and his new wife and how they start their lives together. This show, show the inside their home together and how they must deal with situations with each others families. Basically, I feel this show is a way for the public to be updated on these two newlyweds almost like a Facebook update, but constantly.
